Chelsea to up their bid for AC Milan defender

With just one week to go until the transfer window closes, Chelsea are increasing their efforts to sign a central defender before the deadline.

Yesterday, we brought you news of Chelsea’s £30million bid was rejected by AC Milan for defender Alesio Romagnoli.

However reports in Italy last night suggest that Antonio Conte is preparing to up his offer, and will today make an improved offer of £34million in an attempt to sign the Italian.

Conte has already been disappointed in his search for a centre-back as Kalidou Koulibaly has decided to stay with his current club Napoli, meaning Chelsea have had to reassess their options, and Romagnoli seems to be Plan B.
