Chelsea to miss out on Alex Sandro signing

Chelsea look to have missed out on signing Alex Sandro in what is yet another blow to Antonio Conte’s summer transfer plans.

The Blues have already completed the signings of Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko, but their summer business has left some wondering if they go into this season with a weaker squad than last season. John Terry and Kurt Zouma have been allowed to leave the defensive ranks. Nemanja Matic has been sold to rivals Manchester United while Diego Costa has also been told he is not wanted.

With the added pressure of Champions League football to contend with for the Blues, Conte is desperate to add new names all around his squad, and Alex Sandro was one of those names as he looked to provide more competition at left back.

However, speaking after a recent preseason friendly against Tottenham, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri batted away any suggestion that he Brazilian will be leaving the Champions League finalists this summer.

“Alex Sandro is a Juventus player and he will stay one,”

He was then asked on what the chances of the player leaving the club this summer, to which he replied:

“No chance!”

The news will frustrate Conte more, and fierce him to look elsewhere. Southampton full back and former Chelsea graduate Ryan Bertrand has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge.
