Chelsea target to sign new contract

Giorgio Chiellini is set to snub a potential move to Chelsea and sign a new deal at Juventus.

Antonio Conte made a move for the 33-year-old centre back last in an attempt to get the Italian to accept a new challenge in the Premier League, having worked together during Conte’s time as both Juventus and Italy manager.

However he was unable pursuade Chiellini to make the move.

The no nonsense defender remains on Conte’s radar and has just nine months remaining on his current deal, but according to Italian publication, Calciomercato, he has agreed a new deal with the Old Lady.

They claim that the player and club have agreed to the financial package, although have not yet come to an agreement over the length of the deal, which will either be one or two years in length.

Chiellini has made 441 appearances for Juventus, scoring 34 since joining the club back in 2005.
