Chelsea star to reject huge new deal as he looks for transfer

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will reject a huge new contract offer at Stamford Bridge according to reports in Spain.

The Belgian currently has less than two years remaining in his contract with the Premier League champions, and reports recently have suggested that he has been offered a big money new contract to commit his future to the club.

Courtois currently earns £120,000-a-week at the West London club, and according for reports earlier this week, has been offered a new contract which will see him double his current salary.

However, according to Spanish publication Marca, Courtois is set to reject that new deal for the time being as he harbours an interest in returning to La Liga.

The goalkeeper spent three seasons in Spain, where he spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid. He eventually returned to Chelsea to take over the first choice goalkeeping spot from Petr Cech, who subsequently joined Arsenal.

However despite being happy at Chelsea, the report claims that he believes his time in the Premier League could be coming to an end. They also claim that he feels that a move to La Liga is his ideal next step, with Real Madrid having been interested in recent transfer windows.

Real Madrid have been searching for a new goalkeeper for a number of years, with Manchester United’s David de Gea. However de Gea is thought to be very happy at Old Trafford and is expected to sign a new deal.

Zinedine Zidane is thought to be happy Costa Rican ‘keeper Keylor Navas, while Florentino Perez is keen to add a big name long term addition between the sticks at the Bernabeu. Courtois would certainly fit that bill with the Belgian rightly considered as one of the top five ‘keepers in the world.
