Chelsea have completed their first big-money transfer move of the summer, as they have sealed a move for Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman. The fee for the Ghanaian international will remain undisclosed, but it is thought to be upwards of £12million for the 21-year old.
Rahman spent twelve months with Augsburg and thoroughly impressed in the Bundesliga last season, making over thirty appearances and turning the heads of some of the biggest clubs in world football.
Rahman said: “I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Mourinho said: “It is important because he is a left-back, so he can compete with [Cesar] Azpilicueta.
“At the same time, Azpilicueta can compete with [Branislav] Ivanovic for the right-back position, so he replaces Filipe Luis in the balance of the squad.”
