Chelsea eye up former Barcelona boss to replace Conte

Chelsea are eyeing up former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte in the summer.

Conte’s future at the club is increasingly in doubt, despite the Italian signing a new contract in the summer, he crucially did not extending it beyond next year.

He has been constantly linked with a return to Italy while Paris St-Germain are also thought to be keen.

The Italian has made no secrets of his various issues at Chelsea, especially at the club’s inability to land his key transfer targets, as well as being homesick.

Now, according to the Daily Star, former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique and former Blues defender Juliano Belletti are in the frame to take over in the summer.

Former Barca boss Enrique would replace Conte as coach with Belletti joining him at Stamford Bridge as his director of football.

Enrique who has been out of work since leaving Barca last summer while Belletti is currently an ambassador for Barcelona but is held in high regard at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian right-back, now 41, had three successful seasons with the Blues from 2007 after joining from the La Liga giants, where he also spent three years, winning the league and Champions League.
