Champions League Team of the Week: Game Week 4

As game week four of this season’s Champions League group stages have drawn to a close, here is the team of the week.

There have been some stand out performances this week, most notably Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Real Madrid in Wednesday. Spurs became the first team in five years to beat the reigning European champions in the group stages. It also earned English duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane a place in this weeks team of the week.

They were joined by their England team mate John Stones, who put in an excellent display at the back, as well as bagging himself a goal for Manchester City against Napoli to help his side qualify for the last 16.

Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-0 demolition of Anderlecht saw three of their side earn their place in the lineup too. Left back Layvin Kurzawa was the unlikeliest of hattrick heroes in the French capital, with Worlds most expensive player Neymar, and his Brazilian team mate also being highly rated.

Qarabag goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic was in phenomenal form in the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night. Despite the side from Azerbaijan playing for 31 minutes with 10 men, and surrendering 58% of the ball to the Spanish side, the rank outsiders got their second draw within two weeks against the La Liga giants, no thanks to Sehic. Atleti has 34 attempts on goal, 11 of which were on target, but could only find the net once.

Elsewhere, the Sevilla duo of Ever Banega and Clement Lenglet earned their place in the side by both scoring against Spartak Moscow to help them keep pace with Liverpool at the top of Group E.

Shakhtar Donetsk duo Facundo Ferreyra and Marlos grabbed the goals against Feyenood to put them in pole position to qualify in second place from Group F behind Manchester City.
