Carragher says Arsenal are getting worse

Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher has laid into Arsenal after their poor performance in last weekend’s North London Derby.

Arsene Wenger’s men only lost 1-0 to bitter rival’s Spurs at Wembley last Saturday, although in all honesty the home side dominated for most of the game, and had it not been for some superb work by the Gunners goalkeeper Petr Cech the scoreline could of been a lot worse.

Speaking on Sky Sports MNF Carragher said:

“I have always questioned Arsenal’s mentality, but I have always thought they are good enough,”

“I still question their mentality, but they are not good enough now, and that’s the big thing.

“Arsenal are actually getting worse. They’re not getting better.

Arsenal’s loss at Spurs means they are now eight points off the top four with just 11 games remaining in the Premier League this season. Which means Arsene Wenger’s side look likely to miss out on finishing in the top four for the second season in a row, after finishing in the Champions League qualification spots for 17 seasons consecutively beforehand.

Carragher also slammed the Gunners abysmal away record in recent times, which has seen them collect a measly 21 points from 26 games on the road.
