Bournemouth close in on defender signing

Bournemouth are close to completing the £2million signing of a Stoke City defender Marc Wilson.

The defender has travelled to the South coast to complete his medical and was present in the crowd for Bournemouth’s opening day day defeat to the hands of Manchester United yesterday.

The deal is likely to be completed this week where he will sign a two-year contract at the club.

Eddie Howe said:

We have agreed a fee and are waiting for the formalities to be completed

Wilson was involved in an exchange with fans on social media last week where he appeared to hit out at Stoke City manager Mark Hughes, who later agreed it was time to move away from the club.

Hughes said:

It’s fair to say that Marc feels his future lies elsewhere and it’s fair to say I probably agree with him.

Sometimes players can be frustrated with a perceived lack of opportunity and that’s the case with Marc. He maybe expressed himself in the wrong way.

Wilson has made over 150 appearances for the Potters, but only one of those came last season.
