Boost for Chelsea as star set to return for Tottenham clash

It is fair to say that it hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for Chelsea, but with the FA Cup still to play for and qualification for the Champions League still up for grabs, it’s a crucial part of the season for the Blues.

Those hopes of lifting the cup and finishing in he top four have been handed a boost with the news that David Luiz is nearing a return to fitness.

According to The Sun, the Brazilian is confident to be fit in time for Chelsea’s next fixture, the April Fools Day clash with fellow contenders for the top four, Tottenham.

The defender hasn’t featured since Chelsea’s surprise 4-1 defeat to Watford on February 5 due to a knee problem which has plagued him for much of the campaign, where he has made just 10 Premier League appearances.

Despite being a key fixture in the title winning defence last season, the 30-year-old has found it difficult to stay fit and to force his way into the team this year.

However, his return to the team will be a boost as Chelsea hope to claw their way back into contention in the race for the top four.

The Blues currently sit five points behind Spurs, and they know that defeat will leave them with the almost impossible task of gaining eight points in seven remaining games in the race for the top four.
