Blow for Everton, Newcastle and West Ham as transfer target signs new deal

Newcastle, West Ham and Everton’s transfer plans have been dealt a blow following the new news that one of their targets has signed a new deal.

The Premier League duo have been linked to Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, who was available for around £26.5m thanks to the €30m release clause in his contract that he signed last summer.

However, Jose made an impressive start to his Real Sociedad career, scoring 14 goals in 34 games during his debut campaign last season, and has already scored two in the opening three games of this season.

This form attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Everton, West Ham and Newcastle who were all on the lookout for a striker during the summer.

However, the La Liga side have acted swiftly to prevent the Brazilian striker leave the club on the relative cheap.

They have extended his contract by one year to 2022, but crucially, have doubled the €30 million release clause to €60 million (£53m).
