Barcelona are growing increasingly confident that they can complete the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
Reports in The Sun claim that the Catalan giants are growing in confidence that they can complete the deal, despite Jurgen Klopp’s insistence that he will not be sold.
The article even claims that the £90m deal could be concluded as early as this week.
Barcelona are flush with cash at the moment after Neymar forced his move to PSG last week after they paid his £198m release clause, a move which has left the La Liga giants with a big hole to fill. Coutinho is believed to be the number one target, while the likes of Eden Hazard, Dele Alli and Ousmane Dembele are also on their radar.
However, today’s Daily Star claims that Barcelona will indeed return with a whopping bid of £120m for the Brazilian who was one of the Premier League’s top performers last season. The Liverpool playmaker scored 13 goals and made seven assists in the Premier League last season.
In further revelations, Sky Sports claim that Coutinho wants to move to the Catalan club, providing a deal can be done on amicable terms. Officially, Liverpool are adamant that Coutinho will not be sold after the Brazilian only signed a new long term deal back in January.
Whether or not Klopp will accept the huge fee on offer in light of these revalations in order to strengthen his squad or not is yet to be seen, but so far, publicly at least, he is remaining insistent that his star player is going nowhere.
Coutinho still has five years remaining on his current deal and is believed to be happy on Merseyside, but does not want to let the opportunity to move to Barcelona pass.
