Aston Villa to move for Premier League striker as they aim for promotion

Aston Villa will attempt to sign a Premier League striker this summer as they reshape their squad ahead of their attempt to gain promotion back to the top flight at the first attempt.

The Birmingham Mail claim that Aston Villa are closely monitoring the situation of Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, who could be made available for a transfer this summer.

The 25-year old was on the periphery of the Crystal Palace squad last season and could be on his way out of Selhurst Park this summer after only making XX appearances.

Aston Villa looked at signing the striker last summer but decided against the move, despite the recommendations of then manager Tim Sherwood.

The striker previously scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for his former club Peterborough, before moving to Crystal Palace in 2013.
