Arsenal are facing a make or break Champions League battle this evening, needing to overcome Olympiakos by a two goal margin to progress through to the knockout stages of Europe’s premier competition.
However, ahead of the game, Mathieu Debuchy has thrown major doubt about his long-term future at Arsenal. The Frenchman is seriously considering a move away from The Emirates as early as January, so he can earn his way back into France’s national team squad, ahead of the European Championships in his homeland next year.
Debuchy was an instant hit upon arrival at Arsenal, but the emergence of Hector Bellerin has meant that he is now playing backup to the young Spaniard, and his limited minutes has seen him dropped from the national squad.
He now faces an uphill battle to get back into the mix, and the only way to earn that spot back is by moving away from Arsenal and becoming a regular right-back somewhere else.
