Arsenal set to complete first January signing in the coming days

FC Basel have confirmed that they are about to lose Mohamed Elneny to Arsenal in the coming days, for a deal thought to be worth around the £5million mark. The Egyptian is thought to be coming in as cover for the injured Francis Coquelin, who has been ruled out until next month with a major knee issue.

Arsenal are a side who have a real shot at the Premier League title for the first time in several years, and now Wenger sees the January transfer window as the perfect opportunity to bolster his squad and give his side the best chance possible at bringing the title home.

23-year old Eneny could well turn out to be an astute piece of business from Wenger, as they are adding a player in an area that desperately needs reinforcements.

Elneny has been absent from Basel training over the last couple of days, which all-but confirms his exit from Switzerland.
