Arsenal see £35m bid rejected

Arsenal have had a £35m bid for Medhi Benatia rejected by Italian champions Juventus according to reports in Italy.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of centre backs over the course of the last six months, including Virgil van Dijk, Jonny Evans, and fellow Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

However, according to Calciomercato, Arsenal are actually interested in signing Rugani’s Juventus team mate Mehdi Benatia.

The report claims that Arsene Wenger had tabled a £35m bid for the Morocco defender, but that has swiftly been rejected by the Italian champions who are keen to keep their defender who has established himself as a first regular following the summer departure of Leonardo Bonnuci to AC Milan.

The centre back has a wealth of experience, spending time at both Roma and Bayern Munich before moving to the Turin club,
