Arsenal are ready to trigger the release clause of Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio according to reports today.
The Spain under 21 international has a £75m release clause in his contract, a clause that Real Madrid initially believed that nobody would pay. However, following PSG’s £198m signing of Neymar from Barcelona, and Barca’s subsequent £130m signing of Ousmane Dembele, the transfer market has been totally shifted, making £75m a more achievable price for any time.
The Sunday Express claim that Arsenal are ready to trigger that release clause and offer him the increased gametime that he desires.
Real Madrid have been recently linked with offering Asensio a new deal with a buyout clause of €500m. However, with Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema Real Madrid’s first choice attacking trio, Asensio is believed to be keen to get guarantees regarding his future game time, before committing to a new deal.
Asensio showcased his immense talents, scoring two stunning goals in either leg of the Spanish Super Copa, as Real thrashed their first rivals Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate.
