Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has encouraged his former club to include Manchester United playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan in any deal for want away attacker Alexis Sanchez.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday the former Gunners player said:
“I think selling Sanchez to United and getting Mkhitaryan in return would work,”
“If Arsenal could get him playing like he was at Borussia Dortmund they would have one of the best players in the league. That would represent a good deal.”
United are said to have stolen a march on their City rivals, and are now favourites to secure the signing of the talented Chile international.
There have been rumours circulating that Jose Mourinho would be prepared to include Armenia international Mkhitaryan as a makeweight in the deal. The 28-year-old started this season in brilliant form, but his form has tailed off badly over the last few months and he fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
If United are to finalise the signing of Sanchez it will be a massive statement of intent from the club, and he is type of world-class attacking talent that could hugely improve the clubs attack.
