Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are battling it out for the signature of Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani, according to reports in The Sun.
The 23-year-old joined Juve in 2013 from his boyhood team Empoli, and has long been talked about as being the next in a long line of world-class Italian defenders.
Many expected he would become a regular fixture in the Serie A Champions side this season after the departure of Leonardo Bonucci, but Rugani has once again seen his path to the first-team blocked, this time by the superb form of summer signing Mehdi Benatia.
Both Arsenal and Man United are eager to strengthen their squads with defensive reinforcements in January, and see the Italian international as being well equipped physically and technically to handle life in the Premier League.
Juventus rate Rugani highly however, and are said to be looking for a transfer fee of between £35 – 40 million to part ways with the talented defender.
