Aguero hints at Manchester City exit

Manchester City club record goalscorer Sergio Aguero has hinted he could be edging closer to an exit. The Argentine has been linked with a possible departure from Manchester City over the recent months. The arrival of Gabriel Jesus almost 12 months ago means that Aguero is no longer guaranteed to be the first choice striker at the club, and has prompted interest from clubs around Europe.

However, he has suggested that he is ready to snub any potential offers from around Europe as he wants to return to former club, Independiente.

Speaking while on international duty with Argentina, Aguero said:

“It came out that Milan and Real Madrid wanted me and – I don’t know where I read it – but they said: ‘They just spoiled Independiente’s dream’,”

“But the idea was always to go back to Independiente when my contract with City runs out in 2019.

“I have an option to extend one more year with City where it’s the priority but it’s always an option.

“The idea is to go back. Now, they are doing very well and hopefully they can win the cup, but it’s not easy.”

Aguero became Manchester City’s record goalscorer recently, having scored 179 goals and counting in his Cityzens career, surpassing a 77 year old record.
